HU Vis Moot Court Team: Succsess in Hongkong

The HU Berlin team achieved a (shared) 3rd place at the 18th Vis Moot Court East in Hong Kong, its best result since 2005.
The way to this result was exciting: After the team, represented by Maximilian Wolters and Lino Binggeli, had reached the elimination rounds, they advanced to the semi-finals after successful pleadings against the University of Calgary (Canada), Ludwig-Maximilians University (Germany) and Yonsei University (South Korea).
Then, however, the organizers announced that due to a calculation error five teams had been wrongly not admitted to the elimination rounds. In order to make up for this mistake, it was decided to let these five teams (plus three other teams) compete against each other in a separate round, and then let the four winners - in an additional round - meet the previously determined four semi-finalists (in order to select four new semi-finalsts).
As a result, the team from Humboldt University had to compete in an additional pleading where it lost to a strong team from University of Freiburg.

The organizers later decided to officially award the teams that had originally qualified for the semi-finals as semi-finalists as well and to honor them with a (shared) 3rd place. In addition, the HU team was awarded with an Honorable Mention for the Respondent Memorandum. Lino Binggeli also received an Honorable Mention for his oral performance.

The chair congratulates the team and wishes them all the best for the upcoming competition in Vienna!
