Socio-Legal Lab "kick-off weekend"

Wann 21.04.2018 um 09:00 bis 22.04.2018 um 14:00 (Europe/Vienna / UTC200) iCal
Wo UL 9, Raum 210

The Socio-Legal Lab attempts to provide a space for graduate students who would like to apply socio-legal methods in their dissertation projects but face theoretical/methodological challenges in doing so, to come together in a collaborative learning atmosphere to discuss and ideate about what it means to do socio-legal research. The lab plans to organize two workshop weekends per term and is designed to encourage discussions between researchers in an informal setting. Thereby, it intends to facilitate a shared reflection on the reasons for and challenges of engaging in empirical and inter-disciplinary research at the intersection of law and society.

The first workshop weekend will be held on 21st and 22nd April 2018. As a kick-off this event introduces students to general debates and approaches in socio-legal research and provides an overview on different research designs (qualitative/quantitative methods) and their underlying methodological choices.
