Laura Anna Klein has been Interim Professor of Public Law and Comparative Law (Chair of Prof. Dr. Philipp Dann) at Humboldt University of Berlin since the winter semester 2025/2026.

She studied law in Freiburg (Albert Ludwig University), Santiago de Chile (University of Chile) and Berlin (Humboldt University) (2011–2016). First State Examination in Law, Berlin (2017). Klein earned her PhD (Dr. iur.) with the interdisciplinary doctoral thesis Reproduktive Freiheiten ('Reproductive Freedoms') at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (summa cum laude, 2022). Her doctoral research was supervised by Prof. Dr. Friederike Wapler, funded by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Gutenberg Academy, and received multiple awards: the Sibylle Kalkhoff-Rose Academy Prize for the Humanities, Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz (2023), the Deutscher Studienpreis of the Körber Foundation (2nd prize) | Humanities and Cultural Studies (2023), the Dr. Feldbausch Foundation Prize (2023) and the Marie Elisabeth Lüders Science Prize of the German Women Lawyers Association (2025). During her legal traineeship (Referendariat) in the district of the Berlin Court of Appeal (Kammergericht), she worked in the Federal Chancellery (foreign migration policy), in a law firm (family and inheritance law) and in the Federal Constitutional Court (Cabinet of Federal Constitutional Court Justice Dr. Yvonne Ott). Second State Examination in Law, Berlin (2023). She worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Public Law and Legal Philosophy of Prof. Dr. Friederike Wapler at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (2019–2025) and as a judicial clerk at the Federal Constitutional Court (Cabinet of Federal Constitutional Court Justice Prof. Dr. Henning Radtke) (2024–2025).
