10 649 European Consumer Law

Course (2 SP/SWS) weekly, Tuesdays from 16:00 to 18:00 (from 20 October 2009) in room BE 1, 140/142

The course focuses on European consumer caw. The various consumer protection directives and regulations will be discussed, and their interpretation by the ECJ will be analysed. The lecture will also refer to the implementation of these directives and regulations into German law. The current developments in European consumer law will be considered (in particular the Consumer Rights Directive and the Draft for a Common European Sales Law) and the problems linked to the enforcement of consumer protection provisions will be outlined.

International students are welcome!

Exam: oral exam / subsequent seminar paper.

BA BWL and VWL: 3 SP, module Private and Business Law 1 (law 1), audience: first semester of study

 

The course aims to give an overview over private law. The relevant fields of law for economists (law of obligation, especially contract law) are particularly amplified.

Exam: written exam (60 min).
