ASADIP Conference in Rio de Janeiro
From August 7 to 9, the 18th Annual Conference of the American Association of Private International Law (Asociación Americana de Derecho Internacional Privado - ASADIP) took place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). The conference, which was attended by 200 colleagues from the Americas (and other parts of the world), celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Conferencias Especializadas Interamericanas sobre Derecho Internacional Privado (CIDIP). A wide range of topics were discussed, from post-colonialism and migration to artificial intelligence and emission certificates in private international law.
The conference concluded with a panel discussion on interregional/global cooperation in the field of private international law. Professor Giesela Rühl participated in this discussion as Secretary General of the European Association of Private International Law (EAPIL). In the coming months and years, cooperation is to be intensified and examined to determine which issues can be addressed jointly.
