March 11: Event on the topic “Commercial Courts made in Germany: Competitiveness of Germany as a Jurisdiction”
On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Professor Rühl will speak at a joint event organized by the Berlin Law Society and the Berlin Court of Appeal (Kammergericht) on the topic “Commercial Courts made in Germany: Competitiveness of Germany as a Jurisdiction.” The event will take place at the Berlin Kammergericht and begins at 6.00 p.m.
The lecture will focus on the Act on Strengthening Germany as a Jurisdiction, passed in October 2024, which enables the federal states to establish special commercial courts for high-volume commercial disputes. The presentation will place these new courts in an international context and discuss whether they can help strengthen Germany’s appeal as a judicial hub in competition with foreign courts and international arbitration. Following the presentation, Björn Retzlaff, Presiding Judge at the Berlin Court of Appeal, will report on the practical experience of the newly established Berlin Commercial Court.
All interested parties are cordially invited!
