Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court is an international competition that has been held every winter semester since 1992 with participating universities from all over the world.

The competition is centred around simulated arbitration proceedings in which law students have to represent the interests of their fictitious clients both in memoranda and oral hearings. With more than 300 participating universities from over 70 countries, the Vis Moot Court, founded and hosted by Pace University in New York, is the world’s largest competition of its kind. It is thematically focused on the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods as well as international arbitration law. Further information is available here.

Humboldt-Universität has regularly participated in the Vis Moot Court since 1992. The organisation lies with the Humboldt Moot Association (HMA). Professor Rühl is responsible for the academic supervision.

If you have any questions about the moot court, both the HMA board and Professor Rühl will be happy to help!
