Announcement: Windy Roads
The ambivalent relationship of Union Citizenship and Member State nationality
28 - 30 of January 2026

The DFG Research Training Group DynamInt hosted the “Windy Roads” conference at Humboldt University Berlin. From 28 to 30 January 2026, the ambivalent relationship of Union citizenship and Member State nationality was discussed with participants from academia and practice.
The conference opened on the evening of 28 January with keynote speeches by Advocate General Tamara Ćapeta and Professor Daniel Thym and closed with an address delivered by President Koen Lenaerts on the afternoon of 30 January. In between, stimulating discussions with over 30 renowned experts took place, who delve into the ambivalent, at times even contradictory developments of Union citizenship and Member State nationality. The conference was organised by our Postdoc Dr. Luke Dimitrios Spieker.
