Extraordinary success for the HU team at the 20./30. Willem C Vis (East) Moot Court

Humboldt University's team in this year again took part in the Willem C. Vis Moot Court with great success. After Simon Ferel, Thomas Hamelin, Elisa Henke, Charlene Lorenz, Clemens Wendt and Liese-Lotte Wieprecht had already won the pre-moots in Aarhus, Riga and Dublin, the plaintiff brief was awarded first prize in the competition in Hong Kong (David Hunter Award). The defendant's statement received the second prize.

The team also made a great showing at the hearings in Vienna. After four strong preliminary rounds against universities from India, USA, Great Britain and Brazil, it advanced to the knockout rounds and made it into the top 32. In addition, Elisa Henke received second place as best speaker, Thomas Hamelin and Charlene Lorenz each won honorable mentions. Finally, the team was also able to reap successes for its pleadings: the plaintiff's brief was awarded third place, while the defendant's brief received an honorable mention. This makes the Humboldt University team the only team in the world to have received an award for all their briefs in both Hong Kong and Vienna within two years.

We are proud of the hard work and dedication of the team that has led to these outstanding results. A big thank you also goes to the coaches Lino Binggeli, Louk Middelhoek and Giulio Polisi as well as to Prof. Giesela Rühl, whose support made a significant contribution to the success.

This year's Moot Court season is over. We are looking forward to the coming season with great anticipation!

The Humboldt University team takes part in the international rounds of the Jessup Moot Court

At the beginning of April 2023, the Jessup team from Humboldt University took part in the International Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C. part. After exciting preliminary rounds, in which the German runners-up Clara Schweinbach, Elisa Arslan, Mia Hanebeck and Judith Scherer competed against teams from Panama, Kosovo, India and Sierra Leone, the Humboldt team just missed making it into the Advanced Rounds. However, Judith Scherer and Elisa Arslan were able to record a great success: Among the more than 500 participants, they took 13th and 20th place in the best oralist ranking. This year's team was coached by Anton Kamke, Simon Ruhland Nitya Grosser and Jasper Kamradt.

We also congratulate the World Champions (University of Amsterdam) on their excellent performance.
