Opening Lecture by Prof. George Bermann: Twilight Issues in Arbitration
Humboldt University is deeply honored to have had the renowned Prof. George Bermann of Columbia Law School deliver this year’s opening lecture for the Class of 2024. Drawing on his vast expertise, Prof. Bermann explored the nuanced aspects of arbitration that have remained largely unaddressed by the legal literature. Arbitrability, res judicata, testimonial privilege and adverse inferences are only some of the interesting issues addressed. Attendees, including legal professionals, students and scholars, were immersed in the insightful analysis shedding some light on some of the aforementioned „Twilight Issues“. The lecture was followed by a reception that allowed for discussions sparked by the topics mentioned and led to friendly networking.
