Kooperation mit der University of Melbourne (Dr. Nikolas Feith Tan)

Wir freuen uns, dass die Kooperation mit der Universität Melbourne auch 2025 weiter von der Berliner University Alliance im Rahmen des Joint Partnership Fundings gefördert wird!

Bonavero Institute of Human Rights - Report 1/2025 "The Absolute Prohibition of Refoulement and Exceptional Circumstances"
T.P.I. in the case of C.O.C.G. and Others v Lithuania before the ECHR
 

The report analyses the legal issues arising in the context of pushbacks of asylum seekers at Europe's borders in situations where the entry of asylum seekers to European states may have been facilitated by third states. This,  in political parlance, is characterized as ‘hybrid attacks’ or ‘instrumentalisation’ of migrants by third states. The report reproduces the Third Party Intervention (TPI)  submitted to the European Court of Human Rights in the case of C.O.C.G. and Others v Lithuania, currently pending before its Grand Chamber. The TPI was led by Professor Nora Markard (University of Münster) and co-authored by twenty-two legal academics. Further details available here.

 

Kooperation mit der Human Rights Law Clinic Bern
Am 02.05.2024 hatte das Team der Professur für Recht und Migration das Vergnügen, zusammen mit der Refugee Law Clinic Berlin e.V. (RLC Berlin) und der Humboldt Law Clinic Grund- und Menschenrechte (HLCMR), eine Delegation von Studierenden und Dozierenden der Human Rights Law Clinic der Universität Bern zu empfangen. Wir möchten uns herzlich für den anregenden Austausch und die interessanten Einblicke in die praktische Fallarbeit bedanken. Wir sehen mit Vorfreude weiteren Kooperationsmöglichkeiten entgegen. Gastvortrag von Prof.in Cathryn Costello
Am 11.06.2024 war Prof.in Cathryn Costello an der Professur für Recht und Migration und dem Law and Society Institute zu Gast.
Das Thema war: "Effective Judicial Protection of Migrants and Refugees? The role of Europe's supranational courts in protecting and generating rights".
 

Gastaufenthalte

Wir freuen uns, dass Célia Alloune seit Oktober 2024 als Gastwissenschaftlerin an der Professur für Recht und Migration forscht. Sie ist Doktorandin an der Université Toulouse Capitole I und absolviert derzeit einen zweimonatigen Forschungsaufenthalt an der Humboldt-Universität bis zum 20. Dezember. Ihr Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt auf der Rolle des Gerichtshofs der Europäischen Union (EuGH) bei der Gestaltung des Gemeinsamen Europäischen Asylsystems (GEAS).

 

Seit Dezember 2024 ist zudem Assistant Prof. Jonas Bornemann an der Professur für Recht und Migration und am Law and Society Institute zu Gast. Jonas Bornemann ist Assistant Professor für Europarecht an der Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind das Europäische Verfassungs- und Migrationsrecht. Der Forschungsaufenthalt wird durch das re:constitution fellowships ermöglicht.
